Tanzania's Serengeti National Park has emerged winner of the 2013 International Tour Award as selected by the Selection Committee for the 38th International Award for Tourist, Hotel and Catering.
The international award, created by the Global trade leaders’ club will be presented to TANAPA today in Madrid Spain.
The Global trade leaders’ club is an international businessmen club counting more than 7,000 associated companies globally.
According to Public relations manager of Tanzania National Parks, Pascal Shelutete, the International Award for tourist, Hotel and Catering Industry was created to recognise the prestige of companies and organisations working in the tourism, hotel and catering industry as a self-stimulation means to those working in the sector.
This year’s award ceremony will be attended by tourism professionals from over 40 countries around the world and will coincide with the International Tourism Fair in Madrid, which is one of the main meeting points for stakeholders in the tourist industry worldwide.
Serengeti is Tanzania’s oldest and most popular park and is also a World heritage site famed for its annual migration of some six million grazers pounding the open plains as more than 200,000 zebra and 300,000 Thompson gazelle join the wildebeests’ trek for fresh grazing.
The Park offers arguably the most entertaining game viewing in Africa with great herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephant and giraffe and thousands upon thousands of eland, tops, kongoni, impala and many more.
