The cement manufacturer’s Logistic and Distribution Manager, Samwel Shoo said Tanga Cement is committed towards assisting the government improve social services such as education.
“We normally give back to the community, a percentage of our profit while focusing on the areas of education, health, community development and environment,” Shoo said during the handing over ceremony.
He further said that Tanga Cement’s management understands that the country’s future depends on youth who are currently at school including those at Pongwe Secondary School.
“I believe this group of students we support today is where we will find future employees of Tanga Cement Plc such as engineers that will come to run our plant. For a better future you have to educate this generation,” Shoo noted.
He challenged students to handle with care the infrastructure donated so that it benefits them and their siblings in future. “Make sure the laboratory that we’re handing over to your school today adds more impact in your studies and life in general,” the Tanga Cement Logistics and Distribution Manager, noted.
As part of its corporate social responsibility, Tanga Cement Plc has been supporting government initiatives of improving the education sector by donating cement, constructing classrooms, staff houses, laboratories and other related infrastructure.
