The East African Community has sent a message of condolence to the president of the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA) following the death of Elvis Musiba.
EAC Secretary General Juma Mwapachu said in the message that the regional economic bloc received with great shock and grief news of the prominent Tanzanian business leader’s death.
He described the deceased as “a great patriot of Tanzania, leading entrepreneur and outstanding champion of East Africa unity and development”.
“Musiba contributed immensely to East African integration in his illustrious career at the helm of the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, the Tanzania Private Sector Foundation, the Tanzania National Business Council and the East African Business Council, among other organisations,” said Ambassador Mwapachu.
“At this moment of deep sorrow and great loss, the entire EAC staff and I extend heartfelt condolences to you and, through you, to the bereaved family, relatives, friends and colleagues of the late Elvis Musiba,” he noted. Musiba, once also a prolific novelist, died in a Dar es Salaam hospital on Sunday morning after a long illness. His body will be flown to his home village in Musoma today for burial.
