Irish national Allan Duller (38) from Dublin yesterday appeared in the Kisutu Resident Magistrate’s Court in Dar es Salaam where he was charged with trafficking in cocaine worth over 174m/-.
State attorney Nmbute Akalo alleged before resident magistrate Victoria Nongwa that the accused committed the offence on April 7, this year, at Julius Kambarage Nyerere Airport in Ilala District, Dar es Salaam.
It was alleged that on that date the accused was found trafficking from United Republic of Tanzania 3,882.92gms (3.9kgs) of narcotic drugs of cocaine valued at 174,731,400/-.
The accused was not allowed to enter any plea as the court had no jurisdiction to deal with such a case. Investigation into the case is continuing and the case was adjourned until April 24, this year.
In another development, two relatives of Tarime district commissioner (DC) John Henjewele on Tuesday appeared in the Kinondoni District Court in Dar es Salaam charged with assaulting and causing bodily harm to their young sister.
The prosecution side led by State Attorney Magoma Mtani mentioned accused Gloria Henjewele (50) and Benedict Henjewele.
Before resident magistrate Hilda Lyatuu, it was alleged that the accused committed the offence on March 16, this year, in Mbezi Salasala area in Kinondoni District.
Mtani alleged that on that date, the accused caused actual bodily harm by beating their young sister Rose Henjewele on her face, neck and noise and cased her to suffer bodily harm.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and the first accused Gloria was out on bail while Benedict failed to meet bail conditions. Mtani told the court that the investigation into the case was incomplete and the case was adjourned until April 23, this year.
