After being out of the stage for more than six months, rumba ace singer Muhidin Gurumo will make a comeback on Idd El Fitr celebration when his Msondo Ngoma Band will perform at a special concert dubbed “Konyagi Bonanza” at TCC Club, Chang’ombe.
Gurumo has been out of the music scene because of illness.
The band will also use the concert to celebrate their victory of being the best rumba group in the East and Central Africa.
Msondo Ngoma won the prize at an event held in Nairobi, Kenya last week. The Dar es Salaam-based outfit outclassed top Congolese bands of JB Mpiana and Werason Ngiama Makandi.
“We appeal to our fans to turn out in big numbers on Idd el Fitr to celebrate this unique award as well as welcoming back Gurumo who has now recovered,” said band leader Saidi Mabera.
The bonanza set to start at 2pm, is organized by Bob Entertainment and Keen Arts under the sponsorship of Konyagi.
The co-ordinator of the event, Joseph Kapinga, said the band will also use the concert to promote its new album entitled “Huna Shukrani”.
Songs in the album are “Huna Shukrani” composed by Saidi Mabera, “Cheo ni Dhamana” (Eddo Sanga), “Kiapo” (Hussein Jumbe), “Mama Kosi” (Joseph Maina), “Machimbo” (DJ Papa Upanga) and “Haki Yangu Iko Wapi” (H. Huvuruge).
He said the fans will also have a chance to listen to songs like “Kilio Cha Mtu Mzima”, “Kaza Moyo”, “Piga Ua Talaka Utatoa” and other oldies.
