The much touted Dar es Salaam Regional Football Association’s elections, which were supposed to be conducted on March 18, have now been cancelled.

The cancellations were announced by the TFF’s chairman for elections committee Deogratius Lyatto.

Lyatto’s press release highlights that the DRFA election procedures are not in conformity with the Tanzania Football Federation’s procedures.

Basing on that irregularity, the DRFA must make amendments to the constitution to match with requirements of the football federation ahead of conducting the elections.

However, Lyatto said the incumbent DRFA officials will still be in power until the new elections are staged subject to the said amendments.

The current leadership has a limit up to August this year before installing interim leadership if the elections are not held in between.

TFF has cancelled the DRFA polls as a result of weakness of the DRFA constitution on chapters 29 and 30 which does not conform with the requirements for holding elections as per the football federation’s

chapter 49 (1).

TFF has made full use of chapter 26 (2) to cancel the elections, so states the press release as signed by Lyatto.

Amin Bakhresa is the incumbent chairman of the DRFA.
