Female secondary school teachers have been called upon to dress decently and live by example.
Speaking at a seminar organised for head masters, assistants, discipline masters, matrons and patrons in Moshi at the weekend, director of schools owned by Moshi Catholic Diocese Fr William Ruwaichi said mission schools had the reputation of commanding respect and so teachers should show a good example.
“Some femle teachers are obsessed with miniskirts or indecent dresses that lower their dignity. How do you expect a student being taught by this teacher to follow his studies? So, head masters and deputies must work on this matter," said the director.
In another development, Fr Ruwaichi challenged school heads to be careful with their budgets, especially with regard to school meals, as the diocese’s debt was already becoming too much.
For their part, the head masters requested the director to establish a system of helping the teaching staff to sharpen their teaching skills. The director supported the request saying it should be discussed at relevant school boards.
