The new services will allow the mobile phone service provider’s customers to call for half a shilling day and night seven days a week to preferred numbers, enjoy night calls at quarter a shilling, send ten sms at 30/- and get 200 free sms, “true free” Facebook browsing as well as free night-time Internet for all customers enrolled into the service.

Announcing the groundbreaking offer in Dar es Salaam yesterday, Airtel Tanzania Managing Director Sam Elangalloor said the offer mainly targeted the youth “but other all other Airtel customers frequently using both data and voice services will also find the offer compelling”.

“Airtel is committed to providing our customers with quality innovative products and services that will improve the total customer experience on our network,” he said.

“I am pleased to announce the launch of Supa 5, an impressive and unique offer that will provide a great experience with five grand offers that will enable youth across Tanzania to select three numbers to call for half a shilling all day all night,” he added.

The MD said the offer “provides a well-rounded and affordable solution for those who seamlessly use voice calls, online social platforms and short texts to communicate with relatives, friends and peers”.

Airtel Tanzania Marketing Director Cheikh Sarr said the company listens to its customers needs, and described Supa 5 as “the most competitive offer available in Tanzania today, as there are no hidden charges and what you see is what you get”.
“In order to enjoy the full benefits of this offer Airtel customers will be required to enroll by dialing *149*99#.

Thereafter, the customer will be asked to choose a daily or a weekly offer followed by a request to enter three numbers of choice that will be called at half a shilling 24 hours 7 days a week,” he explained.

He said the service was unique in that it allows customers to re-subscribe upon expiry of the subscription, providing convenience and flexibility.

According to Sarr, Airtel Supa 5 is a permanent service and is designed to meet customers’ individual needs regardless of their handset type.

He said the benefits of the new service include availability of a data connection and affordability coupled with extensive coverage.
