Rashis Matumla`s come back into boxing ring suffered a huge blow when he was knocked out in the fourth round by German Benjamin Simon during an IBF super middleweight title bout held in Berlin over the weekend.
The twelve-round bout held at Universal Hall of the Germany capital, underscored the need for the Tanzanian to go back to basics should he aspire to make effective resurgence.
Matumla, who left last week to Berlin for the match, had strong ambition to redeem his boxing career with the IBF title victory that was eventually not to be.
Matumla tried to sparkle during the opening round but as time elapsed he gradually lost steam to open the room for the German boxer to dictate terms.
The referee was compelled to stop the fight in the fourth round after the Tanzanian had kissed the canvas several times to sustain scratches on his face.
This is the sixth TKO defeat for Matumla after career-long 68 matches winning 47 TKOs. His German opponent has lost only once in his 22 career bouts so far.
Rated 223 in the super middle weight rankings, the Tanga born boxer was accompanied by his Kenyan agent Thomas Mutua.
Matumla is expecting to board return flight later this week.
