Tanzaniaís renowned pan-African designer Mustafa Hassanali is currently displaying his creations at the on-going Origin Africa ìFibre to Fashionî taking place in Mauritius where his second collection named Serengeti will be unveiled.
The event, organized by the Mauritius Export Association (MEXA) and Enterprise Mauritius, aims to highlight the creativity and innovation of the African textile industry to raise the profile of the continent as potential source of cotton production.
The show, beginning on Monday, will bring together business leaders and decision-makers from 20 countries in Africa, providing opportunities for international buyers to establish contacts with African designers.
Hassanali is coming fresh from the Arise Magazine Fashion Week held in Lagos, Nigeria.
ìI am looking forward to launch my new collection in the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius,î he said.
The Serengeti collection has been inspired by the wilderness of the Serengeti plains and the flora and fauna of Tanzania, he said.
