Four Nigerians charged with drug trafficking

Four Nigerian nationals from Lagos yesterday appeared in the Kisutu Resident Magistrate’s Court in Dar es Salaam charged with drug trafficking - the drugs being valued at 143m/-

The prosecution side led by State Attorney Esther Kyala named the accused as traders Lawretta Anichioma (27), Sunday Ugwu (31), Uchendu Cosmos (35) and Ifanyi Ralu Oko (33).

Kyala alleged before resident magistrate Ritha Tarimo that on March 30, this year, in Kinyerezi area, Ilala district, in the ciity of Dar es Salaam the accused committed the offence.

It was alleged that on the material day the accused were found with illegal heroin hydrochloride weighing 13,185.38gms valued at 143,342,100/-

The accused were not allowed to enter any plea as the court is not mandated to proceed with the case.

Kyala told the court that investigation into the case was incomplete and magistrate Tarimo adjourned the case until April 19, this year.

Meanwhile, Muhidin Lilai (33) from Tandika, Edward Joseph from Kimara, Hussein Longole from Manzese Midizini and Mustafa Mfaume (31) from Kichangani appeared in the same court charged with armed robbery.

The prosecution side led by State Attorney Nmbute Akallo alleged before resident magistrate Victoria Nongwa that on February 10, this year, at Kimara Kilungule the accused stole two gold chains, four decka, a watch and other items, all valued at 2,330,000/- the property of Eva Kessy.

It was further alleged that before the robbery the accused threatened the said Kessy with a gun in order to facilitate the robbery.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and were remanded until April 18, this year, when the case comes up for another mention. Akallo told the court that investigation into the case was yet to be complete.
