The Tanzania Sports Writers’ Association (Taswa) yesterday issued a list of nominees for the 2011 awards set for June 14 in Dar es Salaam.

The organising committee chairman, Masoud Sanani named those who will vie for the women’s basketball category as Doritha Mbunda of JKT Queens, Evodia Kazinja (JKT Queens) and Faraja Malaki (Jeshi Stars).

Basketball (men) contenders are Alpha Kisusi (Vijana), Filbert Mwaipungu (ABC) and Gilbert Batungi (ABC).

Netball (women) nominees are Lilian Sylidion and Doritha Mbunda.

Golf (women) features Madina Iddi, Hawa Wanyeche and Ayne Magombe.

Golf (men) will be fielding Frank Roman, Nuru Mollel and Issac Anania, while professional golfers picked are Fadhili Said Nkya, Yasini Salehe and Hassan Kadio.

Special Olympics category has Ahmada Bakari, Amina Daud Simba and Othman Ally Othman while other hopefuls are Zaharani Mwenemti, Joseph Nziku and Johana Mwila

Still others in the Paralympics category are Yohana Mwila, Faudhia Chafumbwe, Siwema Kilyenyi and Janeth Madise,while Boxing (amateur) category features Suleiman Salum Kibunda, Victor Njaiti and Abdallah Kassim.

Boxing (professional) hopes are spread around Benson Mwakyembe, Nasibu Ramadhani, Francis Cheka, Nassib Ramadhani and Fadhili Majia.

Swimming lists hopefuls Magdalena Moshi, Gouri Kotecha, Mariam Foum, Ammaar Ghadiyali and Omari Abdallah,while Judo has Mbarouk Selemani, Mohamed Khamis Juma, Azan Hussein Khamis

Voleyball hopefuls are Zuhura Hassan (Jeshi Stars), Theresia Ojode (Jeshi Stars), Evelyne Albert (Prisons), Mbwana Ally Mzinga, Kevin Peter (Prisons) and Farhab Abubakar (Mafunzo).

Tennis listed aspirants are Waziri Salum, Omary Abdallah, Hassan Kassim, Rehema Ramadhani, Mkunde Idd and Violet Peter,while Cycling boast of Sophia Hussein, Sophia Anderson, Richard Laizer and Hamisi Hussein.

Profesional soccer players cited are Henry Joseph, Mbwana Samatta and Sophia Mwasikili, with the Upcoming players category featuring Theresia Ojode (volleyball), Shomary Kapombe (soccer) and Salum Abubakari (soccer).

Foreign soccer players featuring for possible award are Haruna Niyonzima (Yanga), Kipre Tchetche (Azam FC) and Emmanuel Okwi (Simba), aside from local women soccer players,, whose aspirants are Asha Rashid (Mburahati Queens), Mwanahamisi Omary (Mburahati Queens), Fatuma Mustapha (Sayari) and Ito Mlenzi (JKT).

Local male footballers slated for possible award are John Bocco (Azam), Aggrey Morris (Azam) and Juma Kaseja (Simba),while in Athletics the ‘chosen few’ are Zakia Mrisho, Mary Naali

Jacqueline Sakila, Dickson Marwa and Alphonce Felix.

Handball (men) lists Abinery Kusencha (JKT Ruvu), Kazad Mtong (Magereza Kiwira) and Faraji Shaibu Khamis (Nyuki),while Handall women features Doris Mangara (Magereza Kiwira), Zakia Seif (Ngome Dar) and Mary Kimiti (Magereza Kiwira).

Cricket (women) features Monica Pascal, Asha Daudi and Esther Wallace,while Cricket (men) listed aspirants are Kassimu Nassoro, Benson Mwita and Riziki Kiseto.
