A total of 66 Tanzanian officials have participated in local administration management courses offered by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (Koica)-Korean Local Government Officials Development Institute (Logodi) since 2007.
According to a press statement availed to The Guardian yesterday Koica-Logodi is a training provider of excellence for learning and development in support of capacity building for senior local government officials, mayors and local councillors in Korea.
It said Koica–Logodi have been inviting Tanzanian officials to participate in local administration management courses since 2007 and so far a total of 66 people had completed the whole course.
The statement said the 2012 Koica-Logodi Alumni of Tanzania was held in Dar es Salaam on March 26, this year.
The event was jointly organised by Koica and Logodi attended by over 20 participants with different professions from various ministries and organisations of the government of Tanzania.
The statement said the aim of the meeting was to make a network and strong friendship between members.
During the meeting Logodi President Jeong-sam Kim explained clearly that he was satisfied with the way the Tanzanian government officials participated in the training programme.
“The institute started a new programme named individualised institution local education programme and we choose Tanzania to be the first country to benefit from the programme,” he said.
Reflecting back on the previous course, Kim stated clearly how they were impressed by the participation of the Tanzanian government officials especially Jumanne Abdallah Sagini, who is Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office (Regional Administration and Local Government), when he attended a programme named local administration management in 2011.
Furthermore the Logodi president hailed a passionate and aggressive presence of the Tanzanian government officials to receive a short course from Logodi and apply experience in Tanzania for that matter, therefore, Logodi wanted to be very closer to Tanzania.
Koica–Logodi alumni community is a non-profit making association formed by Tanzanians, who studied or attended training in the Republic of Korea under the sponsorship of Koica.
