AT declares all positions vacant

1st November 2011
Suleiman Nyambui

The Athletics Tanzania (AT) incumbent secretary general Suleiman Nyambui has declared all posts in the body as vacant ahead of next month’s general election to be held in Songea for the first time.

Basing on the decision Nyambui himself is in power on acting basis pending for the general elections on Dc

December 3.

Nyambui said all people aspiring to contest for various posts are supposed to collect forms which will be available 21 days ahead of the event at the National Sports Council Offices (NSC) in Dar es Salaam.

The acting AT secretary said he expects a huge turn up of delegates to the elections as invitations have been extended to all regions of the country.

He said the general elections will go along with AT annual general meeting (AGM) where delegates will deliberate on the achievements and failures of the current leadership in the past four years it has been in the office.

Asked if he has made his mind to defend his position at the elections, Nyambui said he has not. He said he still analyses his achievements and failures during his tenure.

According to Nyambui it seems like the whole AT leadership whose term of office expired some months ago, have not made their minds to contest again for the posts.

“I’m not sure who will contest again or not, no one has openly come out to declare his or her intention to run for re-election, maybe we have to be patient for some time”, he said.
