


Tanzania Cricket Association (TCA) has embarked on scouting talents during the ongoing Primary School league taking place at the University of Dar-es-Salaam venue.
The league has attracted 20 and 16 teams of boys and girls respectively, and is in the first round.
Teams have been divided into groups of fours and top placed side would progress into the semifinal stage.
The TCA development officer, Kassim Nassoro, who also dons as a coach of the U-15 and U-17 boys’ teams, said those up-and-coming cricketers stand a chance of joining the association’s Muhimbili Academy for career development.
“The objective of this league is to find cricketers who will be trained at our academy with likelihood of winning a place into the U-15 and U-17 national team,” he said.
In related development, winning team will be prized with full cricket kitbags. Mwalimu Nyerere, Mkwawa, Uzuri and Ali Hassan Mwinyi boys’ teams are pre-tournament favorites while girls’ teams of Magomeni, Victoria, Karume and Uzuri Teams are expected to excel.
The twenty overs matches are played every Saturday and Sunday for boys and girls teams, respectively.
The fixture shows that the first match starts at 8:00 hours in the morning to be followed by the second three hours later. The last match of the day starts at 14:00 hours in the afternoon.
