A day after President Jakaya Kikwete reshuffled the cabinet Mbozi District Commissioner Gabriel Kimolo has announced to resign from the post.
Speaking to The Guardian newspaper yesterday at around mid day Kimolo said he resigned because of the simple reason that responsibilities tied to the post were indeed difficult to discharge.
“It is true that I have decided to stand down because the responsibilities tied to this post have been giving me hard time,” Kimolo said.
However, he did not explain further how such responsibilities were giving him hard time. He added that he has written a letter to Mbeya Regional Commissioner Abbas Kandoro notifying him about the resignation.
But when The Guardian reached Mbeya Regional Commissioner Kandoro for comment he simply replied that he had not been informed about the matter neither had he received the said letter.
Kandoro said it could be possible that the DC sent the letter to his office but since he ( Kandoro) was not in the office, he would be notified upon returning to the office .
He added that if it was true that the DC resigned then such a decision should be taken as personal. A rumour has been circulation in the public in Mbozi since Friday over the DC’s resignation.
Speculation had it that the DC would resign due to claims that he mishandled the distribution of agricultural inputs and the purchasing of coffee in the district.
