City rivals Simba and Yanga yesterday won their premier league matches played in Dar es Salaam and Tanga, respectively.

Simba hit African Lyon 2-0 in a National Stadium encounter while defending champions Yanga scored late to post a 1-0 win over Coastal Union at the Mkwakwani Stadium.

Salum Machaku registered the first goal for Simba in the 30th minute when his corner kick shot went directly into the net untouched before Haruna Moshi added the second in the 44th minute. Moshi had connected home a well directed Machaku cross.

Simba coach Milovan Cirkovic said after the game that he was satisfied with the performance of his team. He said the win has catalysed the morale of his players in the Confederation Cup, return leg match against Entente Setif set for Friday.
