Despite losing grip at the international platform, the Tanzania Football Federation has underscored the need to support the team materially.
The TFF information officer, Boniface Wambura, said corporate sponsors and individuals should not blacklist the team from more support as a result of failure to win the Africa Women Championship berth last month.
Wambura was speaking at the federation’s offices in Dar es Salaam yesterday during a 1.3m/- worth of sports gear donation by Maxinsure firm.
He said TFF has received the donation with full satisfaction and the sports materials will kept at TFF to be used by the women senior soccer team when the need arises.
He thanked the company for the donation and made a call to other firms, organisations and individuals to inject more for the team.
The Maxinsure information officer, Amisa Mussa, said though Twiga Stars failed to qualify for the AWC berth, it still needs support of the corporate world and the Government as well.
She said her company believes that the donation will inspire players of the team once it regroups for other international tournaments.
“It’s the belief of our company that this donation will help to inspire the team during regrouping for international tournaments. I also assure Tanzania Football Federation of our continued support towards football development in the country,” she said.
