The Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation, Bernard Membe will be the guest of honour in the Miss Open University 2011 taking place today at the university’s Kinondoni Campus.
According to the Open University of Tanzania Director of Marketing and Communications, Albert Memba, the beauty pageant will feature 11 contestants from the university. Memba said the pageant will be graced by Mapacha Watatu Band as well as Lina of the Tanzania House of Talent (THT) and will start from 7pm.
The aspirants of the pageant include Grace Dominic, Weirungu David, Bella Edward, Nemesia Simon, Jemima Maole, Magdalena Assey, Neema Mtitu, Sophia Chacha and Valentine Uwonga.
He said the contestants were in the rehearsal camp at Chichi hotel in Kinondoni under the former Miss Out Excellence 2009, Shine Mkali.
“We hope that our contestants will do the best in this year Vodacom Miss Tanzania beauty pageant scheduled to take place in September in the city. We have the most beautiful girls who will compete in order to win this year’s crown,” said Memba.
The top three winners would be given scholarships to study master degree in the college while the rest of the student would be given free computer courses. Three winners will qualify into the Vodacom Miss Tanzania 2011.
