Mawenzi Hospital in Kilimanjaro Region Monday received the much needed clean water source when Serengeti Breweries Limited (SBL) donated a 40, 000 litre storage tank for the hospital in a project that invested some 55m/-.

Speaking at a brief ceremony on the site, Mama Tunu Pinda acknowledged the donation would go a long way in reducing the impact of water borne diseases that plague the area as residents seek for the life source in stagnated pools and swamps. 

The Prime Minister’s wife expressed her gratitude to SBL for recognizing and accepting their responsibility to the public sector especially schools and hospitals.
“I am aware of the recent Iringa project. Another facility costing approximately 50m/- has been constructed through funding of EABL Foundation and Serengeti Breweries Limited (SBL) and will benefit over 150,000 people… on behalf of the people of Tanzania I want to say Thank you” Mama Pinda expressed her gratitude.
 
The Corporate Relations Director for Serengeti Breweries Limited, Teddy Mapunda, asserted the company’s commitment to work with the community especially hospitals. They hope to assist in provision of long term and sustainable solutions like access to clean, sustainable water sources as a way of giving back to the community.

“As a company, SBL recognizes that water is a basic need and an important catalyst for both economic and social development of the country. Finding sustainable solutions to the problems of our people underscores our commitment to the communities in which we operate…” said Mapunda.
Last year, SBL/EABL Foundation commissioned water and sanitation projects in Mkuranga and was part of many corporate companies and NGO’s that came together to improve water at the Amana hospital in Dar es salaam.

All in all Serengeti Breweries Limited and EABL foundation have invested some 384.6m/- in the Mkuranga Water project benefiting more than 250,000 people.
