Fabina Joseph has won an invitation to compete in the Slovakia Marathon due to take off at the end of next month, the Athletics Tanzania (AT) secretary general, Suleiman Nyambui, said
The AT official said the Slovakia event will be used for London Olympic Games qualification as well.
He said Joseph left the country yesterday for Poland half marathon.
Nyambui said the Poland half marathon will help the athlete to prepare for the Slovakia Marathon and other international shows.
The Tanzania Olympic Committee (TOC) has been behind Joseph’s European trips for the marathon events.
He said Joseph is among the domestic athletes who have been undergoing training at the Filbert Bayi Secondary School in Kibaha to prepare for the London Games.
AT appointed Joseph based on his potential for possible attempt to win the London Olympics qualifying time.
Lack of funds has been a stumbling block for the AT that would have wished to send more athletes to run in Slovakia and elsewhere.
"We have come into decision to pick Joseph because we could not have managed to send many athletes to the Slovakia Marathon due to financial limitations. Joseph has been a top performer among the rest as we thrust our hopes on him to meet London Games qualifying marks,” he said.
