The Tanzania football Federation is yet to make decision on which venue to be used for the nine teams in the season’s intermediate league.

The federation’s information officer Boniface Wambura said there are several regional associations that have shown interest to host the league.

He mentioned the regions as Mbeya, Morogoro, Mwanza, Ruvuma and Tabora but none has been able to meet a sanctioning fee to the tune of 25 million shillings to win the hosting status.

The intermediate league is supposed to kick off on March 31 when nine teams would battle it out to win promotion into the top flight berth.

March 15 is the deadline to submit application for regional football bodies wishing to host the event.

Teams that have qualified to feature in the league after the end of the first division league last month are Dar es Salaam Police, Tanga’s Mgambo Shooting and Transit Camp of Dar es Salaam who were pooled in group A.

Teams from group B are Mbeya City Council, Ruvuma’s Mlale JKT Tanzania Prisons from Mbeya.

Police Tabora, Police Morogoro and Tabora’s Rhino Rangers sailed through from group C.

Four teams would win promotion into the Mainland premier soccer league at the end of the intermediate league.

Two teams from the current premiership berth would be demoted at the end of the season in early May. The next league season is expected to harbour 16 teams, an increase of two more teams from the current fleet.

During last season’s intermediate league three teams of Coastal Union. Villa Squad and Oljoro JKT managed to win the promotion when the Tanga region hosted the league.
