Former Simba SC player Kevin Yondani is a legitimate player of Young Africans (Yanga), the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) said yesterday.

TFF information officer Boniface Wambura said that the body’s Legal, Ethics and Players’ Status Committee which met on July 17 to discuss the legality of Yondani featuring for Simba archrivals Yanga at the on going Kagame Cup discovered that there was no problem with that.

Wambura said that after going through all agreements and documents between Simba and the midfielder, TFF concluded that Yondani is a lawful player of Yanga.

He said that until Yanga was signing him, he was a free player as his contract with Simba had already expired.

According to Wambura, the contract of Yondani and Simba expired on May 31 and, therefore, from June 1 he was a free player who can join any team he likes.

TFF discovered that Yondani’s contract which Simba presented to the body showing that he had extended his contract with the team was done when recruitment date had expired already, June 7.

The contract did not state when the two parties signed it - Simba and Yondani.

“Even if the agreement was deemed to be so in legal sense, a problem still exists as to the date it was entered,” he said, noting further that the committee was satisfied with the move by TFF to allow Yanga to field the player for the ongoing CECAFA club championship tourney.
