Committee to work on Yanga`s appeal

11th April 2012

The disciplinary and reconciliation committee of the Tanzania Football Federation is expected to workout on Young Africans appeal on Saturday.

Yanga lodged an appeal to protest a three-point loss resulting from fielding suspended defender Nadir Haroub in their premiership match against Coastal Union played at the Mkwakwani Stadium in Tanga on March 31 which they won by a lone goal.

Haroub was flashed with a red card y referee Israel Nkongo during their league match against Azam FC that was marred by violence at the National Stadium on March 10.

Yanga had lost the match by 3-1 goals to dent their title retention hopes.

The Mainland premier soccer league committee had docked Yanga three points after the match in Tanga as Coastal Union lodged an appeal in protest for Haroub’s fielding before he had ended the three-match suspension.

This is Yanga’s second appeal in less than three weeks after the first was lodged to protest against heavy penalties and suspensions to their players.

Five of Yanga players, including Haroub, were booked during their match against Azam that sparkled criticism across the soccer fraternity in the country.

Should Yanga win the appeal and redeem the three points, the decision is likely to ignite attention of other premiership sides, Coastal Union inclusive.

Yanga have five matches to wind up the season and stay seven points adrift of pace makers Simba who have played one more game.
