A team of ten boxers and as many athletes are expected to open a camp in Arusha by next Monday, officials of the respective sports organs have jointly confirmed in Dar es Salaam yesterday.
The camping is introduced less than two months ahead of the New Delhi Commonwealth Games.
Secretary generals for Boxing Federation of Tanzania (BFT) Mashaka Makore and Athletics Tanzania (AT) Suleiman Nyambui declined to unveil names of their athletes heading to Arusha.
Makore distanced himself from unveiling the squad on pretence of throwing the responsibility to boxing team head coach.
The BFT official said the camp would be organised by his body and not Tanzania Olympic Committee (TOC).
He said BFT want to set up the camp as early as possible as time is running out ahead of the Commonwealth Games.
Makore said BFT want its boxers who will compete in India to perform well and won some medals.
The boxers are expected to join the TOC planned camp scheduled to start on September 1.
AT secretary general Nyambui said its athletes will join camp on Monday as part of the preparations for the Commonwealth Games.
Nyambui said his association is planning to send ten formidable athletes for the Games.
The AT official said so far there is no fixed number of athletes to join the 22 squad of the Tanzanian team earmarked for the Games.
TOC has not yet communicated to them on the number of the athletes to join the squad for New Delhi-bound entourage.
Tanzania would be represented by ping pong, swimming, running and boxing teams.
Makore says speculation has it that seven places are earmarked for boxers but his body has not officially communicated by TOC.
In most cases, Tanzanian contingent for either Olympics of Commonwealth Games has been highly stuffed by athletes and boxers.
The Commonwealth Games get underway in New Delhi from October 8.
