


Silas Lucas Isangi has retained the chairmanship post of the Mwanza Amateur Athletics Association in the general; election held over the weekend here.
Beside the chairman, another official who also sailed unopposed to win a landslide victory is the body’s` vice chairman Charles Kimune, who was absent during the polling but won hearts of the voters.
Other officials who forms the athletics leadership panel for the region are:
Assistant secretary general Peter Mujaya, technical official Michael Msuya and a representative for road races, Gibson Mutaigeye.
Mwanza regional cultural officer Deus Chogero was responsible to observe all regularities are followed during the election.
Chogero announced Emmanuel Keraryo as the winner for the secretary general’s post after scooping 13 votes to edge out Peter Agapi who managed six and one Chakala who salvaged paltry two.
Edwin Ngonyani was voted to the post of treasurer to replace Lucy Samuel after scoping 17 votes against five of his opponent.
Probably, the most interesting of all the posts during the polls is the election of the The Guardian Limited’s Mwanza –based senior reporter Cosmas Mlekani as the body’s information officer.
Mlekani, a well versed reporter in athletics more than the rest in the Lake region sailed through with a staggering
17 votes to edge out Sahara Communication’s Steve Moyo, who tried insufficient seven votes
Joseph Mangu has been voted to the executive committee membership while Majija Mipawa is the district representative in the regional annual general meeting.
Juma Maziku is to represent runners’ interests as Benjamin Moses Nyagabona is the regional representative in the national annual general meeting of the Athletics Tanzania.
