The new Boeing 737-500 of Air Tanzania Corperation Limited (ATCL) will today start Dar es Salaam, Mwanza and Kilimanjaro flights.

The airline, which arrived in the country from Cairo, Egypt on Saturday, and landed at Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA), will be undertaking its journey everyday from morning to evening.

Speaking with The Guardian in Dar es Salaam yesterday about the commencement of ATCL’s flights to various regions, ATCL Acting Director General Paul Chizi said all procedures had been completed and promised passengers to expect excellent services. “Starting from tomorrow (today) we will be flying. We rested for a while but we have returned. Our passengers have to expect the best services,” the ATCL boss said.

Chizi explained that the ATCL would expect to add some more flights to Lusaka, Zambia, Harare, Zimbabwe, Mtwara, Comoro before going to Dubai in three months’ time.

One of the ATCL passengers, Juma Mpoto, expressed his joy when he heard that the airline would continue its flights and called upon Tanzanians to use it.

“This is good news to me and to all Tanzanians in general that ATCL starts operating,” he said.

He also said even the services that were offered including food and drinks were of high standard.
Another ATCL passenger, George Rugimbana, urged Tanzanians to utilise ATCL flights to make it compete in the market and serve for a long time.

The new plane is capable of carrying 108 passengers, 12 passengers in the first class and 96 passengers in the economy class.
