Pinda to visit Mbeya this week

7th May 2012
Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda

Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda is expected to go to Mbeya region on May 10 for a three-day official visit.

Mbeya regional commissioner Abbas Kandoro told journalists yesterday Pinda would arrive in the city on May 10, this year, and the same day, he would visit Tanganyika Parkers Meat Industry based in Mbeya City.

During his visit, said Kandoro, the premier would also officially light the Uhuru Torch and launch the national campaign for population census.

He said on May 11, the PM would honour and light the Uhuru Torch at the Sokoine Memorial Stadium.

Kandoro said that during the event, the Prime Minister would also launch the campaigns to mobilise people participate in the national census expected to be held on August 26, this year.

The RC said that on the third day of the visit the PM would inspect three agricultural centres at Uyole area.

Kandoro named the centres, as Agriculture Research Institute, the Agricultural Institute and the Livestock Research Institute. He said after the last activity, the PM would return to Dar es Salaam.

In another development, Kandoro has already received a resignation letter from Mbozi district commissioner Gabriel Kimoro.

He said that even after Kimoro's resignation, the regional government ban imposed on buying unripe coffee beans would remain intact.

The RC explained that there was no lenience demonstrated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Cooperatives, as claimed by the resigning DC; and that his office was keen on stopping the illegal trade.

Last week, Kimoro announced to resign from his position, as Mbozi DC in what he described, as ‘receiving threats’ from some people because he was implementing the law that bans the sale and purchase of unripe coffee beans in the district.
