Tanzania Tennis Association, (TTA), has selected five local coaches to attend an International tennis Federation’s sanctioned three-day conference that starts in Nairobi on October 13.

TTA’s secretary general Inger Njau named the coaches as Salim Mvita, Kiango Kipingu, Nico Jonas, Hassan Kassim and Majuto Majaliwa.

The coaches possess ITF level 1 and 2 coaching certificates enough for them to earn eligibility in the conference that is also being supported by Olympic Solidarity.

Njau said the five would make a good representation in the conference also expected to draw other coaches from the rest of the continent.

The coaches departure date will be few days before the course starts in Nairobi. Besides the hosts Kenya, other coaches are expected from Uganda, Burundi, Rwanda and Sudan.

ITF trio of Mike Barrel, Dermot Sweeney and Prince Madema are lined up to supervise the course.

Njau said the conference is important for local coaches as TTA is gearing up to grassroots tennis proliferation in the country.

However, the coaches major hiccup to grasp well the conference’s topics is insufficient communication as language stands as a vivid barrier
