Tanzania golfers flop in Lilongwe

Tanzania national golf team has flopped terribly in the Africa Zone VI championship that ended in Lilongwe yesterday.

The team finished third from the tail in the tournament dominated by holders South Africa who eventually retained the title for second year in a row.

Tanzania earned eleven points to stay as many and half points adrift of the winners. South Africa chalked 22.5 points to beat second placed Namibia by hefty 7.5 points gap as Kenya were third with 13.5 points.

We went from 2nd position to 7. We won only 1 and a half points.
Only Frank Roman won his match and John Saidi halved to take our total from 9 and a half to 11 points.

The full list of Tanzania golfer’s final round performance is as follows.
Frank Roman beat Clive Zulu of Zambia  1-0,
John Saidi halved with Clive Nguru of Zimbabwe,
Nuru Mollel lost to Hafeni Nghinaamwaani of Namibia 4-3,
John Leonce lost to John Fallet of Zimbabwe 8-7,
Michael Makala lost to Gertrude Myburg of South Africa 4-2,
Elisante Lembris lost to Victor Kachepatsonga of Malawi by 3-2,
Abbas Adam lost to Joseph Karanja of Kenya 2-1,
Jimmy Mollel lost to Jaime Inguane of Mozambique 2-1.
 It has been a shocking performance for the team that ended the previous edition staged in Mombasa in third place.
