Al Ahly Shandy arrived in Dar es Salaam as scheduled ahead of their first leg encounter against hosts Simba at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Sunday afternoon.

Shandy jetted in with a contingent comprising 32 including two pres members in early afternoon hours greeted by uncharacteristic cloudy weather.

The team has been accommodated at a hotel located in central business district of Dar es Salaam. Reports from the Simba Sports club officials has it that former Prime Minister Fredrick Sumaye will be the guest of honour during Sunday’s Confederation’s cup last 16 clash.

Sumaye has been appointed as a guest of honour in several occasions during Simba’s continental league matches.

While Shandy are acclimatizing with the Dar es Salaam weather ahead of the Sunday showpiece, their hosts are busy training at the match’s venue, the National Stadium.

Al Shandy, a new face I continental soccer berth, has never played in Dar es Salaam before as contrasted to their Sudanese premiership rivals El Merreikh and Al Hilal.

Shandy is a team to reckon with after breezing past Mozambique’s Feroviario winning both legs in Khartoum and Maputo early this month.

Simba will be making their Confederation’s Cup last eight since playing the CAF Champions League similar stage in 2003, should they manage to eliminate the unheralded Sudanese club.

Simba sailed through the last 16 after edging Algeria’s Entente Setif in the most fortunate breakthrough blessed with a bonus away goal early this month.

The Dar es Salaam side also breezed past Rwanda’s Kiyovu Sport on 3-2 goals aggregate wining the home leg by 2-1 score.

Should Simba win on Sunday, they will be making a good precedent ahead of not only their return leg but also the Mainland premiership title haul campaign.

Simba need to beat archrivals Young Africans in their final league derby to be played at the same venue in seven days after meeting Al Shandy.
