Arch-rivals Simba and Yanga are vying for three points each as they play their Mainland Premier League matches at different venues today. Simba host Ruvu Shooting at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
In a game expected to be exciting, considering that it will be the first league game for the Msimbazi Street side since eliminating ES Setif of Algeria in the African Confederation Cup.
Simba will use the match to prove to their fans that they are a force to reckon with, bearing in mind that they are the only team in the country that have remained in CAF competitions.
However, the visitors will not be ready to let Simba dominate the game, considering that the armed forces side are well known for playing tactically and full of strength.
Ruvu Shooting officials recently said that they will not be ready to allow three crucial points to remain in Dar es Salaam and promised to outdo Simba.
Simba spokesman Ezekiel Kamwaga said recently that his side is free from injuries, which was taken to suggest that the coach will field a full-trength side as in the away CAF tie line-up.
Defending champions Yanga play Toto Africa at the CCM Kirumba in a match many think will be easy for them. The Lake Zone side has been losing at the hands of Yanga more or less consistently in the premier league history, partly because of considering themselves as a regional wing of the Jangwani Street Club.
But today’s game is likely to be different. That not withstanding, Yanga will be targeting to maintain their unbeaten record at the hands of Toto Africa while the Lake Zone boys seek to win in order to move away from the relegation zone.
Elsewhere, Villa Squad will host Coastal Union at Chamazi ground in Dar es Salaam.
Simba lead the 14-team league with 50 points while third-placed Yanga have 43. Ruvu Shooting and Toto African have 27 and 20 points, respectively.
