More SMEs benefit from TBL`s `Wezesha na Safari Lager` countrywide draw

Eleven entrepreneurs who took part in “Wezeshwa na Safari Lager” and emerged winners in Arusha Region recently received working equipment worth 50m/- from Tanzania Breweries Limited (TBL) to help them operate their business more effectively.

Oscar Shellukindo, Safari Lager Brand Manager told The Guardian on Thursday that the handing over ceremony was held at Soweto ground in Arusha City.

“Wezeshwa na Safari Lager” was introduced to support small and medium entrepreneurs under the auspices of Tanzania Breweries Limited so that the enterprises could obtain subsidy from Safari Lager to boost their business.

The 50m/- was used to purchase different equipment according to the SMEs needs which participated in the competition.

“This is a new programme which was oganised by Safari Lager as part of the corporate social responsibility to support local communities in the localities in which they operate, including SMEs so that they could run their business more effectively,” he said.

These are the winners of the second draw, he said, noting that the first was conducted in Mbeya Region, while at the end of this week; the “Wezeshwa na Safari Lager” competition would conduct another draw in Mwanza Region and later on in Dar es Salam.

“We intend to see that 54 entrepreneurs from Mbeya region, Mwanza and Arusha region will benefit from the TBL’s subsidy and walk to their businesses with different equipment that will help them in their operations,” he said.

Meanwhile Niarire Magunda, Business Officer from Arusha expressed thanks to TBL through its Safari Lager department for establishing this programme to support SMEs.

“No one is poor, the best way to move from where we are is to be empowered in-terms of funds," he noted.
