Coastal Union has opened a remarkable cushion of six points from the relegation borderline of the Mainland premiership standings.

The team that used to camp inside the relegation tunnel for long spells in the previous rounds, has now moved to the eighth spot to enjoy a peace of mind.

Three back to back wins has boosted the Tanga top flight side to regain its respect and set up premiership survival strategies.

With nine rounds to play ahead of winding up the premiership season, Coastal is above six other teams after pushing Police Dodoma and Toto Africa into the dreadful zone.

Beside Coastal, Dar es Salaam’s Villa Squad that also used to stay at the base of the standings table has disengaged from the relegation flight while creating a two-point cushion over the borderline.

Villa’s two back to back victories over leaders Simba and Police Dodoma has been an inspirational in their survival bid. However, the relegation web is still wide open as six of the teams from the bottom of the standings as they are separated by few points.

Ruvu Shooting who suffered a loss to holders Yanga over the weekend are enjoying the biggest gap of four points from the relegation borderline.
