Opposition Chadema said on Monday that funding for financing its candidate in the Arumeru by-election will come from members and supporters, not subsidy of the party.
Party’s publicity secretary John Mnyika revealed this to journalists in Dar es Salaam when briefing them on the decision reached by the Chadema Central Committee meeting held recently.
He said that his party would invest more in peoples’ support rather than using public resources in the by-election, which is conducted to fill the seat left vacant following the death of former MP, Jeremiah Sumari.
“We need all members to support the party…to show their patriotism,” he said.
He added that the full budget for the by-election will be announced later after assessing different supports from within and outside the country.
