The Kilimanjaro Marathon that gets underway on Sunday in Moshi has attracted some of the diplomatic staff, the Russian Embays inclusive according to a verbal statement from the organizers.
The diplomatic staffs are set to join the fray in the event together with of other athletes from over 40 countries who have confirmed to take part.
Over 5,000 athletes are expected to flock the Moshi Municipality.
Organisers say Russian ambassador in the country, Alexander Rannikh has expressed his readiness for the event and he has decided to support and send other diplomatic staff.
African countries confirmed to send their top athletes for the event include Rwanda, Kenya, Mozambique, Zambia, Uganda and Burundi.
Other countries outside the continent include Canada, Russia, France, German, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, South Africa, Japan, Italy, Australia, Norway and Sweden.
He said the event starts at Moshi University of Cooperatives and Business Studies and there are three categories beside the full Marathon and these are half Marathon, Disabled half marathon and the five-kilometre fun run.
Preparations for the event are complete so says the organizers.
