Young Africans Squad

Defending champions Young Africans (Yanga) start their Kagame Cup campaign today when they face Atletico of Burundi in a Group `A’ match at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

The game will be the second after APR of Rwanda take on newcomers El Salam Wau of South Sudan in the opening match, also from Group `A’.

The opening match will kick off at 2pm while the second starts at 4pm. The second game will be the match of the day considering that it pits the leading city club-cum-tournament defending champions with Atletico.

Yanga fans are expected to turn up in big numbers to see how their newly-recruited tactician Tom Saintfiet will perform in the second match.

The Belgian coach led Yanga to a 2-0 win over JKT in a friendly game right after taking over the vacant post, replacing stand-in coach Fred Felix Minziro.

Meanwhile, Tusker of Kenya and Ports of Djibouti were expected to arrive in the city yesterday.

The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) information officer, Boniface Wambura, said yesterday the rest of the participating teams had already arrived.

Wambura said the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (Cecafa) had already allocated training grounds for teams in the regional tourney except Yanga and Simba who weren’t allocated any special training grounds, as well as local side Azam FC who have their own ground.

APR of Rwanda will train at Mabibo Hostel, AS Vita of Democratic Republic of Congo (University of Dar es Salaam),

Atletico of Burundi (Mabibo Hostel), El Salaam Wau of South Sudan (Zanaki Secondary School ground), Mafunzo of Zanzibar (Kinesi), Ports of Djibouti (Kinesi), Tusker of Kenya (Zanaki) and Uganda Revenue Authority (Loyola High School).
