Twiga Stars skipper Sophia Mwasikili was expected to board a return flight back to Istanbul yesterday night where she has signed a contract to play for one of the women’s top flight side, Luleburgazgucu Spor Kulubu.
Mwasikili flew back to Dar es Salaam where she was following up her visa application to facilitate her staying in Turkey.
She admitted to have secured the visa that would allow her to continue staying in Turkey for the professional career.
"I have already informed the Tanzania Football Federation of my intended trip after securing the visa”, said the Twiga Stars centre back.
The Twiga Stars lynch pin centre back who left Dar es Salaam for Istanbul last month, was forced to fly back to clear her visa application to be in conformity with her duration of stay in Turkey.
She thanked the football federation for the successful negotiations with her former club Sayari FC in Dar es Salaam.
She is expected back in Dar es Salaam at the end of April in readiness for training ahead of Twiga Stars African Nations Cup qualifier against Ethiopia scheduled for May.
Mwasikili becomes the first Tanzania women soccer player to secure a contract in Europe.
