Preparations for the Tanzania Street Children sports academy (TSC) tour of Germany next month are in closing stages, the executive director of the body, Mutani Yangwe, confirmed yesterday.
Mutani said the trip would take on board twenty players and seven officials including the Tanzania Football Federation’s technical director, Sunday Kayuni.
The TSC director said Kayuni will be on board the flight to Germany as a way to cement relationship with the TFF and to give him a glimpse of how the players of the Mwanza-based academy feature in Europe.
The TSC contingent will be in Germany for a three-week sporting entourage.
Yangwe said Kayuni will be joined by Mwanza City deputy director, Jeremiah Tito, on the flight expected to take off on July 14.
“The aim of the tour is exposing up-and-coming talents from communities and schools to the international stage,” he said.
However, Yangwe said Kayuni will not exhaust the entire three weeks with the team and instead he will stay there for just a week before boarding a flight back home.
Commenting on the team preparations, the TSC director said the team is ready for the German tour after its head coach Rogashian Kaijage laboured with the training sessions to shape it up.
He said the team has so far played two trial matches against Mwanza based top flight side Toto Africa and emerged with victories of 1-0 and 3-0.
Yangwe also said the TSC team is expected in Dar es Salaam on Saturday for a two-week camping.
While in Dar es Salaam, the team will play three strength testing matches against Mainland premiership sides which Mutani declined to unveil.
He said he hopes that the German tour will open doors for his team players to eye professional football in Europe.
While in Germany, the TSC team is expected to play against Spvgg Greuther Ferth, Karlsrutherss,VFB Stuttarg, VFL Bochum, 1860 Munich, FC Numremberg, TSG Hoffeheim and SC Freibug.
