Gambia here to face Stars

The Gambia national side, The Scorpions, are in the country ready to play their counterparts, Taifa Stars, in a World Cup African zone Group C qualifying match at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam tomorrow.

The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) information officer Boniface Wambura said that the team arrived in the country on Thursday night with a contingent of 22 players and nine officials.

Officials in the group are assistant secretary at Gambia Ministry of Sports Malang Jassey Modou Sowe, Luciano Mancini (head coach), Peter Bonu Johnson (assistant coach), Lamin Sambou, Alhagie Marong, Pa Matarr Ndow, Sanna Bojang and Kalifa Manneh.

Players are Musa Camara, Abdou Jammeh, Momodou Futty Danso, Lamin Basmen Samateh, Ousman Koli, Pa Saikou Kujabi, Mustapha Kebba Jarju, Yankuba Mal Ceesay, Demba Savage, Saihou Gassama, Alieu Darboe, Momodou Ceesay and Pa Modou Jagne.

Others are Tijan Jaiteh, Bubacarr Sanyang, Christopher Allen, Musa Yaffa, Sulayman Marr, Mamut Saine, Hamsa Barry, Ali Sowe, Omar Colley and Saloum Faal.

Wambura said that Taifa Stars players were in an upbeat mood ahead of the game and coaches of both sides and their captains will meet with the media today at 10pm at the TFF headquarters. Stars coach is Kim Poulsen.

Stars were last weekend defeated 2-0 by Ivory Coast.

The selling of the match tickets will start today at different centres, with entrance fees ranging from 3,000/- to 30,000/-.
