Prof Mark Mwandosya yesterday said that his health had improved greatly and that he was ready to carry out his duties, as minister without portfolio.

The former Water Minister failed to attend the swearing-in ceremony early this month due to his long sickness after being reappointed, as cabinet minister by President Jakaya Kikwete.

He was given the ministry without portfolio in the latest cabinet reshuffle that was made in response to legislators’ concerns on allegations of abuse of office leveled against at least six full cabinet ministers.

“I assure the public that my health has improved a lot….things are now okay and I am ready to carry out my duties, as minister,” affirmed Mwandosya after taking oath of office at the State House.

Looking happy and more excited when asked about his plans as minister without portfolio, Prof Mwandosya said he would do his best in advising the President on issues of developing the country and its people.

He said that he would ensure that all ministries work in a manner that will help the country develop and ensure that every Tanzanian is satisfied with their services.

When asked concerning his plans to run for presidency in the 2015 General Election, he opted to remain non-committal, saying that was personal plan.

“You shouldn’t be in a hurry to know my plans. It’s too early to tell about it….be patient,” he stressed.
The entire cabinet line up took oath of office on Saturday, May 8 this year at the State House in Dar es Salaam.
