Tanzania Juniors Tennis Team

Tanzania team comprising eight junior players is expected to travel to Nairobi and compete in the Africa Junior Championships (AJC) that get underway next week.

The players’ coach Salum Mvita said the team departs on Tuesday for the two-week long event that starts just a day later.

He said the team will be under his assistant Nicholas Jonas and there will be no local camp as the players are training on their own at their respective places.

Mvita said the eight players emerged best at the one week ITF-CAT East African Tennis Junior Championships which the country hosted early this year.

He urged companies and organisations to help the team financially for their upkeep in Nairobi.

He named the players who will make the trip as Goodluck Shelemo and Tumaini Martini, Emmanuel Nicodemus and Frank Menadi.

In the girls’ category, he named Regina John, Zuhura Baraka, Rahabu Shabani and Georgina Kaindowa.

However, the Nairobi-bound trip will still depend on the political situation in the country after the general election held on Sunday.
