Chadema

A Day after launching its ‘Movement for Change’ campaign in Dar es Salaam on Saturday, Chadema took it to the United States yesterday, a top official of the party has revealed.

Chadema Deputy Secretary General Kabwe Zitto, Special Seat Member of Parliament Leticia Nyerere, and Iringa Urban legislator, Rev Peter Msigwa are taking part in the campaign.

In an interview yesterday, the party’s Director of Communications John Mnyika said while in America the three MPs would, among other things, discuss with Tanzanians living there how they could be directly involved in the new constitution making process.

Mnyika, who is also a Member of Parliament for Ubungo, said they would also discuss important issues to be incorporated in the new constitution, including the rights of people living abroad during general elections and dual citizenship.

“We started in Dar es Salaam on Saturday…the same campaign is going on in the US. We have sent three MPs to represent the party,” he noted. Mnyika said the discussion would be held in Maryland.

He said during their tour in the US, the MPs would launch a special register for Chadema members living abroad; stressing that Tanzanians living outside the country has the right to enjoy available natural resources, including gas.

Launching the campaign locally on Saturday, Chadema national chairman Freeman Mbowe said his party was becoming a serious political party, “ready to assume power” after three years.
