Lulu`s age saga continues
Doubts were revived on Lulu’s actual age after prosecution produced evidence, allegedly showing that the accused is after all, an adult.
Filed to the High Court, the counter-evidence includes a video depicting an interview between Lulu and a TV host, with the ensuing discussion apparently placing Lulu’s age over 18 years.
Only recently, Lulu’s lawyer, Counsel Peter Kibatala filed an application to the High Court seeking the court to determine the accused’s age. The motion was accepted and defense submitted a birth certificate numbered B.0318479 issued July 23, 2004 and showing Lulu to have been born on April 16, 1995.
Defense also supplied the court with an affidavit of support from Lulu’s parents explaining her duo names as Diana and Elizabeth Michael Kimemeta and a baptismal certificate that seemed to also prove that the charming indicted actress was a minor, less than eighteen and possibly innocent of all charges.
Should this be accepted by the court as fact, then Lulu will be tried in a juvenile court. Should the prosecutor prove the documents are not genuine, she not only will have to face the trial in an adult court but will, if charges are pressed, have mounted new fraud and possibly a host of other charges against herself and maybe even her parents.
The remainder of the evidence provided by the prosecutor State Attorney Kenneth Sekwao was the statement Lulu gave to the police after her arrest following allegations that connected her with the murder case, subsequently placing her as number one suspect.
Sekwao also supplied a copy of Lulu’s passport application and of her drivers’ license as part of proof to place Lulu’s age above 18 deeming her an adult and forcing the defense to face charges in the adult court.
Lulu is charged at Kisutu Resident Magistrate’s Court with manslaughter with prosecution attempting to prove she was somehow involved with the untimely loss of the celebrity and film actor Steven Kanumba on April 7, this year at his residence in Sinza Vatican area.Lulu remains in custody.
