Zanzibar champions Mafunzo will be in action against Kenya’s Tusker FC in a Kagame Cup Group B match to be played at the National Stadium this afternoon.
Mafunzo salvaged a point during their opening game against Azam FC at the Chamazi Stadium last Sunday.
The tie is purely tricky as a win for either side would shove the team into the quarterfinal phase of the tournament next week.
Tusker have an option to search for another qualifying opportunity should they lose today’s tie while Mafunzo are playing their final group stage game.
Tusker have their final match against Azam FC to be played at the National Stadium on Saturday.
Mafunzo, making their second appearance in regional soccer championship after retaining Isles’ title last season, have not played the quarterfinal stage
With just a point into their collection kit, Mafunzo will attain a maximum of four points with a possibility of topping their group ahead of the quarterfinal progression.
Group B winners are scheduled to meet runners-up from Group A as runners-up in Group B have to clash against counterparts from Group C at the quarterfinal stage kicking off on Monday.
The Mafunzo-Tusker FC clash will be preceded by Group C match between Burundi’s Atletico Olympique and South Sudan’s El Salaam Wau at the same venue.
