Kagera Sugar hosts troubled title holders Young Africans in the return leg tie of the Mainland premier soccer league at the Kaitaba Stadium in Camera this afternoon.

The holders have fresh memory of losing their previous game at the CCM Kirumba Stadium last Sunday, just on the south east shores of Lake Victoria from where they are playing today.

Trailing ten points adrift of pace makers Simba, Yanga need to win the rest of the four matches remaining in the fixture including today’s tie.

Known for their stubbornness whenever they meet any of the two Dar es Salaam based soccer rivals in the premiership, Kagera Sugar remain unpredictable.

The sugar processors, who are ninth placed in the standings table with 25 points, have a cushion of six points from the relegation borderline.

Despite being relatively safe from the drop of zone, the hosts will certainly not be complacent to relax and concede easy defeat.

Besides ensuring their safe stay in the premiership berth, Kagera Sugar are also having a responsibility to give their fans a reason to cheer the home leg.

The hosts have won paltry five matches, drew ten and lost seven out of the 23 appearances.

Yanga who lost to Toto over the weekend have a complex mathematical permutation towards title retention as a ten-point gap looks too huge to cover in four matches.

In Dar es Salaam pace makers Simba meet Ruvu JKT whom they have been drubbing almost at will in the previous four seasons.

No one knows as to what is in store for the army side as they face title-hungry Simba.

If Simba’s form against Ruvu Shooting last Sunday is anything to by, today’s game will not be easy to scoop the vital three points.

A win for Simba would likely dethrone Yanga as the holders are unable to exceed the 56-point mark to be attained by the pace makers.

Unless Yanga are restored their three docked points, then they will have a lifeline to extend title defence up to the next round.

Other three matches in today’s fixture would see Toto Africa play African Lyon at their CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza, Ruvu Shooting host relegation-haunted Moro United at the Mabatini venue in Kibaha and Costal Union are away to bottom of the table Police Dodoma at the Jamhuri Stadium.

Both Moro United and Police Dodoma have no option except to post victories in today’s matches so as to revive hope of floating in the top flight berth next season.
