The Tanzania Golf Union’s general election will be held at the TPC- Moshi Club on March 24, the union’s administrator Sophie Nyanjera confirmed yesterday.
Nyanjera said posts to be contested for in the country’s supreme golf body include chairmanship, vice chairman, honourary secretary, treasurer, handicap and competition secretaries.
Those interested to contest for the posts are advised to collect application forms already available at TGU offices which have moved to Lugalo Golf Club in Dar es Salaam.
Application forms have already been circulated and deadline for remitting the same to the TGU office is Thursday 1st March 2012.
The elections will be preceded by annual general meeting expected to start at 10:00 hours. Paul Matthysen is chairman of the TGU while the post of vice-chairman is still vacant following Matthysen’s promotion into chairmanship.
Matthysen has replaced Dioniz Malinzi since last year when the later was appointed to the post of National Sports Council chairman.
Mohammed Sadiki is the body’s honourary secretary, treasurer post is held by Gelase Rutachubirwa while handicap and competition secretaries are David Mbesere and Foti Gwebe, respectively.
Meanwhile, the annual Arusha Open which is normally held in mid season will be staged on March 3rd and 4th at the nine-hole course.
The event counts towards the TGU order of merit series which is vital for amateurs wishing to earn points for national team selection.
Tanzania is expected to send a team to the Africa Zone VI championship to be hosted by Malawi later in April.
