The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has extended an invitation to six Tanzanian tennis teenagers to compete in a tournament to be staged in Bujumbura next month.
Tanzania Tennis Association (TTA) secretary general Inger Njau confirmed of receiving an invitation for the juniors who would compete in the East and Central African tournament tailor made for 12 and 14 and under players.
She said TTA would select most outstanding players out of their performance during next weekend’s Gold Star youth tennis championship.
However, she declined to unveil the gender version of the players to travel to Bujumbura.
The youth tournament will be held for two days from July 14 at the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club where more than 70 players from Arusha, Morogoro and Dar es Salaam are lined up to compete.
In a related development, Njau thanked Gold Star for backing the championship.
She said the event would be a big boost in talent identification of up-and-coming tennis players.
