About 12 students taking road construction and maintenance course at the Vocational Education Training Authority failed to finish their after being employed by various companies, it has been disclosed.

Speaking to reporters at the ongoing Nane Nane farmers’ exhibition in Dodoma, Garbiel Simon, a VETA lecturer said the students claimed to go for field attachment, but they ended up being employed by the construction companies.

“It is a positive sign for us that we are doing well, but it is not fair for the students. They should have finished their studies,” he noted. On women joining VETA training, he said they have not been featuring in science studies.

“Out of eight third year students, only two are women. But at least they are now enrolling for studies, unlike in the past,” said Simon.
