Local gospel diva Rose Muhando becomes the first Tanzanian to sign a lucrative deal with Sony Music.
Speaking in Dar es Salaam yesterday, Russell Crawford who is the Commercial Director of Sony Music said the deal will see the company managing and distributing five albums of the gospel singer.
He said Sony wanted to give the artist value for their work, he said there are many changes which are taking place in the music industry and there is a need for companies to help musicians.
“Rose Muhando has joined the group of other top well known musicians in the world and its our hope that this is not the beginning of other good things to come in local music circles” he said
He named some of the musicians who are under Sony label as Usher, Chris Brown, Toya Delazy, Beyonce, Pitbull, Tumi and the Volume, J Cole and R Kelly.
Crawford said his company was looking for musicians who worked hard to realize their goal and also they have maintained their fame and popularity, and in the country Rose Muhando qualified.
‘ Am told Rose has a very humble beginning and she tried harder to make her name known on the music industry and more importantly and inspiring is that she has managed to maintain her fame and popularity ” he said
On her part Rose thanked the company for the deal which she said will help her reach many people, she also thanked all the people who helped her from the beginning of her musical life .
